Boating SituationThe general boating situation is shallow. There is a channel that is 5 foot deep from the bay to the north side of the island. Local knowledge is needed to navigate deep draft boats. Ask our manager if boating information is needed. The fishing at Patrick's Island is usually excellent. There is a public boat ramp available within a reasonable distance. There is bait available at the ramp and in Ruskin. As always, the weather conditions do affect the fishing.
| There is a small tidal beach on the North side of the Island which is available at medium to low tide. Fishing and birdwatching are great on this side of the Island! Commonly seen birds include Herons, Egrets, Roseate Spoonbills, Osprey, Owls to name a few. Winter & summer temperatures can vary tremendously, so please bring appropriate clothing & sunscreen. Remember, insects do live in coastal Florida, so don't forget to bring along protection! |
