"The Happy Farmers" | "Who Expect Miracles" | |
Praise the Lord! | and Harvest shall not cease." (Gen.8:22) | Hallelujah! |
December 31, 1998 the Happy Farmers attended a meeting at Faith Center, Meno, Oklahoma, west of Enid pastored by Monte Anderson where Prophetess Pam Vinett was ministering in special services. She is a dear friend of the Happy Farmers and has stayed in our home when she ministered at our home church at Hopeton, Oklahoma. She walked back to the Happy Farmers and laid hands on us one at a time. To Mary Leigh she said, I thank you father for this true mother of Zion who will not have to worry about her husband and his health anymore, for You have taken all in hand and YOU have your appointed seasons for all things and YOU will make the end more Glorious than the beginning. Oh God! Then to me she said, We thank You for grandchildren who will preach the Gospel and
mend the broken fences of humanity all around their area and will carry on the torch of this father in Zion, for he has ignited the flames of thousands of people and he will touch the lives of millions before he closes his eyes and awakens in eternity.
That word of prophecy about blew me away and as I was praying in the spirit the next morning, Friday, January 1, 1999, I asked the Lord, How this could be? And all I heard was Internet, Internet, Internet. At that time I did not know what Internet was. I asked someone if there was such a thing as Internet, and they told me there was on computers. That was when I started inquiring about computers. Hallelujah!
That word from the Lord really stirred up Satan and he has only one purpose according to Jesus in John 10:10 To steal and to kill and destroy. Jesus said, I have come to bring you life and that you might have it more abundantly. Hallelujah!
On February 11, 1999, Mary Leigh had open-heart surgery with four heart bypasses and had a stroke during surgery and did not ever regain consciousness. Satan stole my precious Queen Mary Leigh from me March 4, 1999.
Then on April the 14th, the Happy Farmer received a confirmation of the word of the Lord spoken to him by Pam Vinett, December 31, 1998. I was called out of the audience at the Elm Grove Assembly of God Church about the same distance from the Happy Farmers home as Meno, Oklahoma Faith Center, where I received the first prophecy by Pam Vinett. Nigel McNeill, who has ministered in our home church at Hopeton, Oklahoma at least two times, and is a dear friend of ours, spoke these words to me, YOU will see your Sweetie Pie soon enough, God has more for you to do. I speak life to you in Jesus Name. He had men pick me up; off the floor two or three times and He would give me more. Your work is not finished and it's going to be greater. Hallelujah!
Then in July, Satan tried to kill me to end the Happy Farmers Ministries. But, He LOST AGAIN! I became ill in the night and my son Terry took me to the Alva Hospital and I ended up in the Enid St Mary's Mercy Hospital where they ran tests and x-rays and the doctor told me I had a massive growth around my right kidney and they would
have to take out my right kidney to be sure they got all the growth and they needed to take my gall bladder out as I had gall stones. They told me I could think about it and I told the doctor, I would Pray about it, because I wasn't sure I wanted to go on living without my Queen Mary Leigh and my son Terry spoke up and said NO, we
won't pray about it, you'll have it done, for God is not through with you yet. I said, OK, Doctor, I'll have it done. Out of Terry's mouth came the third witness that God was NOT through with me yet. Hallelujah! Matthew16:16
I spent about 7 weeks in the hospital recovering and I am still recovering from the light stroke I had during surgery that affected my left arm and hand some. But, I am continually praising God for my total healing and I am crying out to Jesus like blind Bartimaeus did before the multitude of people in Mark 10:49-52. Many charged him that he should hold his peace; but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus called him to him and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto the Lord, That I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way, thy faith has made you whole. And immediately he received his sight; and followed Jesus in the Way. Hallelujah!
YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH DESTINY
The following is taken from Jerry Savelle's devotions book, Faith to Faith. Do you realize that you and I are watching events take place in our world today that were written and decreed by men of God centuries ago? It is obvious that God has His hand upon this planet and from the very beginning of time; He has established an appointment with DESTINY. God has already expressed His will for our lives. If you are deeply committed to Him, then your steps are being ordered by Him, and your life and the Happy Farmer's life will turn out the way He planned it. Doesn't it bring great comfort and peace to you to know that the One who created the universe is in charge of your DESTINY? It certainly does me. Hallelujah!
God moved on Holy men in days past and inspired them to prophesy things to come.
Someone asked me how I could base my life, my success and my DESTINY on something men wrote or spoke when we know men are capable of failure. My answer is, Because JESUS DID. He based His life and DESTINY on God's word spoken through men. God wants us to have hope for the future. God wants us to KNOW no matter what Satan attempts, He is still in control. He has a wonderful future planned for us. Hallelujah!

Merlin attended Mid Valley Rural Grade School and graduated from Dacoma High School in
1940. On July 21, 1940, Merlin and Mary Leigh were married in Freeport, Kansas and lived their years close to where they grew up. They were life-long farmers, members of the Hopeton Wesleyan Church and were active in the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship. They were invited to speak in many meetings around the country giving their testimonies. This inscription is on the back of Mary Leigh and Merlin's monument at the Alva Cemetery:
Merlin and Mary Leigh were married July 21, 1940. To this marriage two children were born, Carolyn, August 1942 and Terry, October 1946. In 1974 Mary Leigh got sick and tired of being sick and tired and started to search for something more than lifeless religion. She knew she had found what she was looking for when she walked into a meeting where the Happy Hunters were ministering that was alive and anointed by the Holy spirit and she received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire like the 120 did in the upper room on the day of Pentecost, Acts 2:4. She then released Merlin to the holy spirit and he received a similar experience in Amarillo, Texas at a full gospel business men's meeting and was delivered from a 7 year addiction to valium and from a 40 year generation curse of fear of public speaking, Acts 1:8. In 1976 they became The Happy Farmers who expect miracles. As they spoke and gave their first miracle wheat crop into reality, they learned that what you say is what you get according to Mark 11:23. In July 1977, Merlin was elected president of Tri-State Wesleyan Men and served in that office 3 years until July 1980. In August 1980, they incorporated the Happy Farmers ministries and started publishing their Seedtime & Harvest newsletter; they were mailing to all fifty states and some foreign countries as of January 1999. Merlin says it's all because Mary Leigh got sick and tired of a lifeless and powerless religion and found life and power in the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
