Live the life of a cowboy -- join us on one of our Cattle Drives!

Cheyenne River Ranch offers five- and six-day cattle drives for all you "cowboys" who are hankerin' to ride a horse on the wide open prairies of the American West.

These are authentic cattle drives.

The May through August drives move cattle from winter range to summer pastures, and the October drive features the fall work of rounding up, shipping, and weaning. All cattle drives are for beginner to experienced riders and limited to groups of 10.

A typical day on the trail begins with a hearty breakfast of pancakes, bacon, eggs and juice. Then saddle up your horse and begin bunchin' the cattle and movin' them out. Lunch is sandwiches, cookies, candy bars, apple and lemonade. You ride about five to six hours a day, covering a distance of 10 to 12 miles.

There you'll be, sitting tall in the saddle behind a slow moving herd.

At night when we make camp, you'll gather around the campfire for a feed of steaks, pork chops, or barbecued ribs, spuds, a vegetable, salad, dessert and wash it all down with good cowboy coffee. You may even want to get a few ropin' lessons from one of the hands during the evening hours!

On a
Cheyenne River Ranch cattle drive, you'll be able to sleep under the stars or in a tent, whichever suits your fancy. We furnish tents for the gals and guys and smaller tents for married couples.

Packages include pick up and return to the Casper Airport, meals, lodging, horses, tents, sleeping bags (or bring your own), cots and foam mattresses.

Liquor is not allowed as horses and liquor don't mix! But, we do furnish soft drinks that really hit the spot after a hot dusty trail. Our portable "Prairie Loo" (with a hot shower and flush potty) is great too!
