Parson's Pillow is housed in a wood framed church building dedicated in 1902 as a Methodist-Episcopal Church. Prior to that, Mr. Beck, one of William F. Cody's (Buffalo Bill) closest friends who helped in the founding and building of Cody, was involved in a poker game one evening. The pot grew to a whopping $500!!! At that point, Mr. Beck and his opponent agreed that the winner would use the money to build Cody's first church building. However, even in losing, the Methodists built their own church first at the corner of 14th and Beck Avenue!!! The original bell tower (rebuilt in 1996) with its magnificent bell, (purchased from funds collected by Buffalo Bill's sister, herself an Episcopalian), was the envy of Mr. Beck and all the Episcopalians!

Come on in through the Bell Tower and stay with us a while!
