Location
Money magazine, in its 1998 annual ranking of best places to live, has named Norfolk the most liveable city in the
South. Rankings of the nation’s 300 largest metropolitan areas were based on such factors as economics, crime,
health, weather, education, housing, leisure, transportation, arts and culture. Rod Woolard, Norfolk’s Director of
Development, said "the cat’s out of the bag. Now everyone is going to know what we have always known. This is a
great place to live and work."
The overall Ghent area is a wonderfully vital area reminiscent of Georgetown (Washington, D.C.) before the later
became as commercial as it is today. In the residential section immediately surrounding the Page House Inn, one
finds stately homes and fascinating turn-of-the-century architecture. Within a few minutes walk there is a
concentration of fine restaurants, cafes, boutiques and professional services, as well as historic and cultural sites.
Ghent is also home to Eastern Virginia Medical School, a major regional hospital, and the only free-standing
children’s hospital in Virginia.
Within a 15-20 minute walk in a southeasterly direction, one can pass through the Freemason Historic District on the way to either the Downtown commercial/convention/Waterside area along the Elizabeth River (for you boaters:
Mile Marker 0, Inter-Coastal Waterway). All of this soon to be joined by the new MacArthur Mall and exciting Battleship Wisconsin, berthed at Nautilus & open to the public.

The Page House Inn is located in the fashionable Ghent Historic District, Norfolk, Virginia, just 300’ west of the Chrysler Museum of Art.
The Page House Inn enjoys and excellent local and national reputation with occupancy rates, year around, averaging 80% or more. Unlike rural inns, our location has afforded us the opportunity to develop a lively commercial clientele as well as tourist trade. From the beginning, we recognized that the needs of the commercial traveler are different than the expectations of a tourist. Therefore, we tend to offer more services that the average b&b;, services that fit the needs of our guests.
Consistent Quality
From just after the Page House Inn opened in October, 1991, until 1995, we were rated Three Diamonds by AAA. On April 15th, 1995, we passed AAA’s rigorous inspection for their prestigious Four Diamond Award, and have received that award every year since. Just recently, we passed inspection for the Four Diamond Award for 2000 -- the fifth year in a row that we have received that coveted designation -- that, in itself, says a lot about who we are. Our philosophy of operation has always been to exceed guest’s expectations. We have never tried to oversell with "fluff "-- rather we present a factual representation of the inn itself and the service that we offer -- consistently, guests remark that we have far exceeded their expectations.
