This trek of 5 days starts in Papallacta and leads through high Andean regions to Cotopaxi National Park. It gives ample opportunity to study Paramo vegetation and animals, like the famous condors. The trek is suited to all people, but still adequate physical condition is required.

We leave Quito at 9:00 a.m. and head east toward Papallacta, where pack horses wait for us. After a 4-hour hike, we reach our first camp, which is located at the Laguna del Volcan.
After breakfast, we begin our ascent toward the base camp at the foot of Antisana (4100m). It takes about 6 hours to get there and we have always the massive glacier of this magnificent mountain in front of us.
In the morning, we leave Antisana and head to our next camp site, which is located at the foot of Sincholagua Mountain. This hike takes around 7 hours and is the most tiring part of our trek.
We leave early in the morning and begin the hike up to the highest point of our tour (4500m). Then, we descend to our last camp at the river Pita, which lies inside Cotopaxi National Park. This stretch of the trek takes about 5 hours.
In the morning, the jeep picks us up and we visit the Pre-Inca site of El Salitre and then we head up to the refuge of Cotopaxi (4800m). On our way back, we visit the Laguna Limpiopungo and the Park Museum and arrive in Quito in the middle of the afternoon.
