We leave Quito at 6:00 a.m. and head south to Lloa, a small agricultural village southwest of the city. From there, we start driving up to the refuge, which is located close to the top of Guagua and arrive there around 8:30 a.m. We climb then to the crater rim and to the top. If volcanic activities permit, we might descend into the crater itself and walk around on its bottom. In the afternoon, we return back to Quito.
